What is an Instagram Reels downloader?
An Instagram Reels downloader saves a public Reel to your device as a video file. Paste the Reel link and SFDown returns the MP4 Instagram serves for it, with the audio inside, at the resolution it was published at. There is no screen recording involved and nothing is re-encoded, so the file is the same quality you see in the app.
Reels from private accounts cannot be read, because SFDown never signs in to Instagram; it sees exactly what a signed-out visitor sees. The same applies to Stories, which need a session to view and are not supported. A Reel that opens in a private browser window without a login prompt will normally process.
One detail catches people out: links copied from the app’s Share sheet can be /share/ links, which Instagram only resolves inside a signed-in session. If SFDown reports it cannot follow the link, open the Reel in a browser and copy the instagram.com/reel/ address instead.

Troubleshooting
The Reel has no sound
Some Reels use audio that Instagram serves separately or mutes for licensing reasons. When the source stream carries no audio track, the MP4 cannot contain one.
SFDown says it cannot follow the share link
The link contains /share/, which Instagram only resolves for a signed-in user. Open the Reel in a browser and copy the instagram.com/reel/ address from the address bar.
The post is private
Private accounts and audience-restricted Reels cannot be processed. Check the link in a private browser window: if Instagram asks you to sign in, there is nothing SFDown can read.
You pasted a profile link
A profile URL points at an account, not one Reel. Open the Reel itself and copy its link.
Frequently asked questions
Can I share a link straight from the app?
On Android, yes. Add SFDown to your home screen, and it appears in the Share sheet: open a post, tap Share, pick SFDown, and the link is fetched for you. iPhone does not offer this, so paste the link instead.
What quality will the Reel be?
The quality Instagram serves for that Reel, normally the resolution it was uploaded in, up to full HD 1080p. Nothing is upscaled or recompressed.
Can I download a Reel with its music?
Yes, when Instagram serves the audio with the video. The MP4 keeps the track as published.
Can I save just the audio of a Reel?
Not as a separate file. The Reel downloads as a video with its audio inside.
Does it work for Reels from private accounts?
