What is an Instagram downloader?
An Instagram downloader saves media from a public Instagram post. SFDown handles Reels, video posts and photos, and returns a carousel as separate files so you can take one picture out of ten without the other nine.
Stories are the exception: they expire, and viewing one usually requires an account, so they are outside what a signed-out tool can read.
What you get depends on the post. A Reel or video post returns one MP4 with its audio. A photo post returns one image file. A carousel returns every slide separately, photos and clips alike, each with its own button, and on Android and desktop a Download all button saves the set at once.
Quality follows what Instagram serves: video at its published resolution, photos at the stored size, typically 1080 pixels wide. Nothing is re-encoded or upscaled. Links that contain /share/ cannot be followed, because Instagram resolves them only for a signed-in user; the instagram.com/p/ or /reel/ address from a browser works instead.
Instagram serves video in more than one size and SFDown takes the largest it offers for the post. For a Reel that is normally the published resolution, up to 1080p; older or heavily compressed uploads come back exactly as Instagram keeps them, because there is nothing larger to fetch.

Instagram downloads on iPhone
Copy the Reel or post link, paste it in Safari and select each file you want. Use Files › Downloads to move saved media into Photos.
Instagram downloads on Android
Paste the public Instagram link in your browser. Downloaded Reels, videos and photos normally appear in the device Downloads folder.
Instagram downloads on desktop
Open the individual Instagram post, copy the address and paste it above. Carousel items appear separately so you do not need to save the whole post.
Troubleshooting
The Instagram account is private
SFDown does not request your Instagram login and cannot read private profiles. Only media visible to signed-out visitors can be returned.
The post was removed or restricted
Check the link in a private browser window. If Instagram displays an unavailable or login screen, the downloader cannot access the media.
The link points to an Instagram Story
Stories are not supported. Use a public Reel, photo post, video post or carousel link instead.
SFDown cannot follow the share link
The link contains /share/, which Instagram only resolves inside a logged-in session. Open the post in a browser and copy the instagram.com address from the address bar.
The Reel came back without sound
Some Reels use audio that Instagram serves separately or mutes for licensing reasons. When the source carries no audio track, the MP4 cannot contain one.
Frequently asked questions
Can I share a link straight from the app?
On Android, yes. Add SFDown to your home screen, and it appears in the Share sheet: open a post, tap Share, pick SFDown, and the link is fetched for you. iPhone does not offer this, so paste the link instead.
Can I download Instagram Stories?
Not yet. Stories expire and usually need a login to view, so SFDown supports Reels and posts for now.
Why does it say the post is private?
The account is private or the post is limited to certain viewers. Only public posts can be downloaded.
Can I save only the audio from a Reel?
Not as a separate file. The Reel downloads as a video with its audio.
What quality will the video be?
The quality Instagram serves for the post, usually the resolution it was uploaded in, up to full HD 1080p.
Can I download an Instagram profile picture?
No. SFDown works with post and Reel links; a profile picture is not part of a post.
Is downloading Instagram posts allowed?
Saving your own posts, or posts you have permission to keep, is fine. Copyright stays with the creator and Instagram’s terms still apply, so do not republish someone else’s work without consent.
