What is an X (Twitter) downloader?

An X downloader saves the media attached to a public post on X, formerly Twitter. SFDown returns each file on its own, so a post holding a video and three photos gives you four downloads instead of one bundle.

Addresses from x.com and twitter.com both work. Posts from protected accounts cannot be read, since they are visible only to approved followers.

Video posts return one MP4 at the highest quality X offers for the post. Photo posts return each image as its own file, in the format X stores, usually JPG. A post that mixes both returns everything, each with its own button, and on Android and desktop a Download all button saves the set.

Links copied from the app sometimes arrive as t.co redirects, which hide the post. Open the redirect, then copy the x.com or twitter.com status address from the post page; both domains point at the same post and both work.

Video quality on X is decided by X: it transcodes every upload into several sizes, and SFDown asks for the largest one on offer. That is normally the resolution the creator uploaded, within X’s own limits, so a phone recording and a studio edit can come back at different sizes.

Why SFDown

Best available quality

For videos, SFDown picks the highest-quality version X offers for the post.

Videos and photos in one post

Posts that mix a video and several photos return every file, each with its own Download button.

No X account

You don't need to log in to X or connect anything. Public posts only.

Supported X and Twitter downloads

  • Public posts containing a video, returned as a downloadable video file.
  • Public photo posts and posts that mix multiple photos with video media.
  • Post URLs on both x.com and twitter.com; the page covers searches for both X downloader and Twitter video downloader.
  • Protected accounts and generic t.co redirect links are not supported.

Download on any device

X downloads on iPhone

Copy the post link from the X Share menu, paste it into Safari and choose a video or photo. Saved files can be found in Files › Downloads.

Twitter downloads on Android

Paste the x.com or twitter.com post URL into your browser. Each available media item receives its own download action.

X downloads on desktop

Open the individual post, copy its address and paste it above. The selected video or photo is saved using your browser download settings.

Troubleshooting

The X account is protected

Posts from protected accounts are visible only to approved followers. SFDown supports public posts that open without an X login.

The copied address is a t.co link

Open the redirect first, then copy the full x.com or twitter.com status URL from the post page and submit that address.

The post was deleted or its media changed

Confirm that the exact post still opens publicly and contains a video or photo. Deleted and text-only posts have no downloadable media.

The post is age-restricted

X hides sensitive-media posts behind a login prompt for signed-out visitors, and SFDown never signs in. If the post does not show its media in a private browser window, it cannot be processed.

You want the media from a quote post

Open the original post that carries the media and copy its link. A quote post refers to the media but does not contain it.

Frequently asked questions

Can I share a link straight from the app?

On Android, yes. Add SFDown to your home screen, and it appears in the Share sheet: open a post, tap Share, pick SFDown, and the link is fetched for you. iPhone does not offer this, so paste the link instead.

Do t.co links work?

No. Open the post first, then copy the x.com link from the Share menu.

Can I download from protected accounts?

No. Posts from protected accounts are only visible to approved followers.

What format are photos saved in?

SFDown keeps the image format X provides, usually JPG.

Why does one post show several downloads?

An X post can hold a video and several photos. SFDown lists each file separately, so you can save only the ones you want.

What quality will the video be?

The highest-quality version X offers for the post, which follows the original upload.

Do I need an X account?

No. SFDown works from the link alone and never asks you to log in.

Is downloading from X allowed?

Saving your own posts, or media you have permission to keep, is fine. Copyright stays with the creator and X’s terms still apply, so do not repost someone else’s media without consent.
